Shape Shifters - Circuit City

This 12" record is the only one off the album "Was Here" from the Shape Shifters. It was released in 2004 and contains 3 tracks on the A-Side plus its instrumentals on the B-Side. Every track has its own flavor as each was produced by a different producer. 'Circuit City' has a taste of Electro-Funk and is produced by Andre Afram Asmar. On 'We R The Dinosaur' you have a typical Shape Shifters style of beat that could also have been on the Know Future or the Adopted By Aliens album. LA Jae took care of the production on this track btw. 'Run The Crowd' was produced by LifeRexall and has a straight forward boom-bap beat.
Like the tracks have different beat styles they also cover different themes. Check them!

LifeRexall - Frequency Response

Dis is LifeRexalls 2nd album which was released in 2003 as a CDr. It comes as a pressed 2xCD containing a bonus instrumental disc and is somewhat rare. You can find the instrumental of "Rock Rhymes" on it, a track that was only on a rare 7" of Sublevel Epidemic.
I came across this release last year when I rediscovered my interest in Hip-Hop instrumentals and Liferexall as a producer catched my attention on the Smartyr release. As a member of the Shape Shifters he was responsible for a bunch of beats but this release doesn't have that typical weird Shape Shifter sound.  The overall style is more laid-back but some tracks also offer some forward motion so that it has a certain diversity. So have fun!

Shape Shifters - Adopted By Aliens

As Jack Devo has upped some of the older Shape Shifters stuff, I wanna show you the Shifters album that build a bridge between the stuff before and after the year 2000. This one was released on the holy record label Celestial Recordings which was run by Daddy Kev and DJ Hive. Since 2001 it is not existent anymore, I think it is because DJ Hive went his own path by focusing on Drum'n'Bass music. It is a pity, Celestial Recordings threw in really dope releases like this one.
I would definitely date this work after the Know Future album because of the track "Brainfish Reanimated" and "Beetleborg" which are like re-makes with a better mastering. By comparing the older versions with the new ones it looks like the ones from the Know Future album were demos. But there are also tracks from the Planet Of The Shapes album, the Triple Threat EP and the 2012 EP. This chaos continues with the weirdness of the music itself which isn't meant in a negative way. No, it will catch your attention because it goes very deep with its trippy beats.
